The topic for this week is: Top Ten Most Anticipated 2015 Debuts.


1. The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh (May 12th, 2015, G.P. Putnam’s Sons Books for Young Readers) – I am a huge fan of retelling and I am so exited for there to finally be a new retelling of A Thousand and One Nights!!!

Bonus Pick A Thousand Nights by E.K. Johnston (October 6th, 2015, Disney Hyperion) – So… It looks like we can look forward to not one but two retellings of A Thousand and One Nights this year! Can’t wait for some new retellings!

2. Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard (February 10th, 2015, HarperCollins Teen/Epic Reads) – Basically from what I have heard about this novel is that it is Game of Thrones meets the Hunger Games with a little bit of X-Men thrown in! Count me in!

3. Magonia by Maria Dahvana Headley (April 28th, 2015, HarperCollins) – “Neil Gaiman’s Stardust meets John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars in this fantasy about a girl caught between two worlds… two races…and two destinies.” (Source:

4. Tracked by Jenny Martin (May 5th, 2015, Dial Books) – “The Fast and the Furious gets a futuristic twist in this action-packed debut!” (Source: Enough said! However, I will add that I have also heard some comparisons to Firefly floating around!

5. Everything That Makes You by Moriah McStay (March 17th, 2015, Katherine Tegen Books) – A debut novel that covers an interesting topic… Possible parallel worlds based on whether or not that one pivotal moment in your life thus far did or did not happen… What would your life be like? Better? Or worse?

6. Pretending to be Erica by Michelle Painchaud (July 21st, 2015, Viking Books for Young Readers) – “We Were Liars meets Heist Society in a riveting debut!” (Source:

7. Spelled by Betsy Schow (June 2nd, 2015, Sourcebooks Fire) – A retelling of the Wizard of Oz.

8. An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir (April 28th, 2015, Penguin USA) – Some snippets from the book have been released and I think that they can capture your attention better than I ever could in trying to describe how amazing this books sounds! Here they are:

10. Black Widow: Forever Red by Margaret StohlAt this point not much is known about this novel but when the two superpowers from Marvel and the YA world collide how could it go wrong?
